Run Report: Leicester Victoria Parkrun

If I can tie in a different local Parkrun with my day then I will try to. This one I was on the way shopping for a Christmas party dress so decided to pop over to Victoria Parkrun, Leicester beforehand. It also tied in with their 2nd birthday so all the more reason to get myself out of bed early. I found the parking pretty easily, popped to the toilets and asked somebody where the start line was.

At the start area I joined in the first timer’s briefing to understand the course which was essentially three and bit laps of the park, on path, with a few speed bumps to look out for. It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday autumn morning as we headed off to the start line. The apricot parkrun colours seemed to blend in with the surrounding trees.

We started off for the first lap which was a steady downhill where a marshal was stood with children playing some tambourines! After the first half we turned to hit the first full lap, after a slight incline we then headed to the end of the first lap. Two more laps and I made it to the finish line in 28.55.

Leicester Victoria Parkrun was a really nice fairly flat course and I think the only negative was being able to see most of the route the whole way around so fully knowing how long there was left to go! Trying a new Parkrun I didn’t have the awful, two more laps, one more lap feeling .. maybe that would change next time but I can give it another go first!
